Understand what an AI visibility audit can answer

An AI visibility audit examines whether your website makes its business, expertise and useful answers accessible to search engines and AI discovery systems. It is a diagnostic service: the output is a prioritised set of findings and recommendations. It is different from an ongoing GEO engagement that implements and reviews changes over time.

Digital Hope Media starts with your business goals and the pages intended to support them. A useful audit should explain which problems deserve attention, what evidence supports the recommendation and how an improvement could be checked. A list of prompts or a screenshot of one AI answer is not enough to establish a stable level of visibility.

We consider traditional search foundations alongside AI-specific discovery questions. The review does not promise that ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI features will mention your business. Those systems choose their own sources and answers. Our focus is on making the underlying website clearer, accessible and useful, then documenting what can and cannot be measured.

Start with the questions your buyers actually ask

The audit needs a defined audience and a realistic set of buyer questions. We ask which services or products you want to be discovered for, which markets you serve and what action a prospective customer should take. Questions about choosing a provider are different from broad educational questions, so we do not treat every prompt as an equally valuable business opportunity.

Search research helps identify measured service phrases and related language. For newer AI topics, missing volume is recorded as missing data rather than replaced with an estimate. Editorial questions can still be worth testing, but their status must be clear. We separate exported keyword evidence, suggested questions and observations from AI answers.

Your business knowledge is important here. Internal terminology may not match a buyer's wording, and a service claim may need qualifications that a short prompt omits. We use the audit to identify those gaps and recommend useful page improvements, not to invent a new capability because it appeared in an AI-generated answer.

Check crawl access and indexable content

Important pages need to be reachable through normal links and understandable text. The technical review checks relevant indexing instructions, canonical signals, sitemap coverage and the way content is delivered. A useful explanation that appears only after a complex interaction may be harder to discover than the same information available in the initial page content.

We consider crawler access for search systems, including the distinction between discovery and training controls where a platform documents it. Opening a crawler path does not guarantee a visit or a citation. Hosting security and CDN rules can also affect access, so the website's robots file is only one part of the check.

Google's published guidance says existing SEO fundamentals apply to its AI search features and that no special AI schema is required. We therefore prioritise accessible content, internal links and accurate structured data rather than treating an extra text file or a proprietary visibility badge as an eligibility requirement.

Review how the website explains your business

A website should give a consistent account of who the business is, what it offers and how a customer can contact it. We review the homepage, service pages, About information and relevant public profiles for conflicting or unclear descriptions. The business supplies and approves the facts; an audit does not create credentials, offices or client results.

Entity clarity includes using the same business name and connecting approved public profiles appropriately. It also means distinguishing the agency from its founder when both are discussed. We review whether pages identify authors or reviewers where that information helps readers judge the explanation. Attribution should reflect real involvement, not an invented expert identity.

Structured data can describe that visible information using types such as Organization, Person, Service and Article. The markup must match the page. We avoid unsupported ratings or business details and do not assume that adding more schema types makes a page more credible. The useful result is a coherent description, not a larger block of code.

Assess the quality and structure of useful answers

The content review asks whether a page answers a buyer's question directly and then develops the explanation with useful detail. A service page needs to explain scope, process, relevant evidence and the next step. An educational article needs a clear question and a reason for the reader to trust the answer. These formats should support one another rather than repeat the same copy.

We look for ambiguous claims, unexplained acronyms, repeated generic text and missing qualifications. Strong content makes distinctions that matter to a customer, such as the difference between recorded clicks and confirmed sales. Lists, tables and headings can help when they organise real information, but formatting alone does not make an answer reliable.

Recommendations identify the specific page and change needed. That might mean clarifying a service definition, linking to approved evidence or separating two overlapping topics. We do not recommend forcing every paragraph into a question-and-answer pattern or adding keywords where they make the explanation less natural.

Document AI answer observations carefully

Where observable answer testing is included in the scope, each observation needs context: the platform, prompt, date and any relevant settings. Answers may change between sessions or users. A brand appearing in one response does not establish a fixed ranking, and an absent mention does not prove that the website cannot be discovered.

We distinguish a direct website citation from a general brand mention or a reference drawn from another source. Those are different outcomes. A useful record also notes whether the answer accurately describes the business and whether the linked page serves the user's question. Accuracy can matter as much as the presence of a mention.

The audit explains limitations rather than presenting a manufactured score as a universal platform metric. Where referral tracking is available, it can provide another view of discovery. It still needs to be considered alongside consent, browser behaviour and attribution limits. Any monitoring recommendation specifies what is being measured.

Receive a prioritised implementation plan

The audit should leave your business with a practical order of work. We group findings into technical access, page intent, entity information, content clarity and measurement. Each recommendation identifies the affected destination and the dependency that could prevent implementation, such as needing a developer or an approved product description.

Priorities reflect the commercial goal and the evidence, not simply the number of checks a tool reports. A broken enquiry journey or a blocked core service page may matter more than a minor wording issue in an old article. We explain the reason for the order so the plan can be discussed and adjusted around your team's capacity.

An initial audit has a two-working-day turnaround. A larger review or implementation project is scoped separately. The audit request starts the conversation; it does not commit you to ongoing work. Pricing, access and deliverables are discussed on a call before a continuing engagement is agreed.

Move from diagnosis to ongoing visibility work

Some businesses can implement the findings with their own team. Others need help coordinating content, development and ongoing search work. We can discuss either route. Long-term relationships are our priority, but the diagnostic service should remain useful even when your next step is an internal implementation rather than a monthly engagement.

Our generative engine optimization services page explains the continuing service, including AI SEO and AEO. The audit page owns the diagnostic question; the ongoing service owns implementation and review. This separation helps visitors choose the right starting point and avoids creating several near-identical pages for different AI acronyms.

You can also explore SEO support if the main issues are broader organic search foundations. For a first conversation, request the audit through our form or book a call. Share your website, intended buyers and main goal. We will discuss the evidence and a sensible next step without promising rankings or citations.

Frequently asked questions

Can we discuss an ongoing engagement?

Yes. Long-term relationships are our priority. Monthly support and three- or six-month arrangements can be discussed on a call, with clear deliverables and reporting.

How do we request the initial audit?

Use the Free Audit form with your website and main marketing goal. Our initial audit turnaround is two working days. We discuss the scope of any detailed work with you.

Which information should we prepare before the first call?

Bring your website, intended customer groups and the main action you want the marketing to support. It helps to identify priority services or products and any previous changes that affect tracking. You can explain the challenge without sharing passwords or confidential customer records. If access is needed later, we agree appropriate permissions for the work.

Can you guarantee a top Google position or an AI citation?

No. Search engines and AI platforms control their own results. We agree an evidence-based scope, improve the pages and technical foundations within that scope, and review the observations available. A useful engagement distinguishes completed work, visibility and recorded customer actions instead of treating a selected ranking as a guaranteed business result.
